St. Germain– The story of St-Germain starts with the process of its creation. It starts in the foothills of the Alps where for only a few days in late spring the delicate blossoms of the elder flower, the basis of St-Germain, flower.
IN ORDER TO ACQUIRE enough of the flowers during the short window of three to four days, groups of bohemien gatherers are organized to deliver sacks of the blossoms to local depots using specially rigged bicycles.
Speed is crucial to preserving the freshness and flavor of these fragile blossoms. To that end, they arrive at the distillery post-haste and are immediately macerated to capture the freshest flavor.
HERE AGAIN IS ANOTHER REASON nothing like St-Germain has ever been created before. Traditional maceration processes yield little flavor from these tiny blossoms. Unfortunately, the other customary option, pressing the flowers, causes a regrettable bitterness.
Returning to old-world techniques, the next step is to marry the elderflower maceration with eau-de-vie or grape spirit, just as artisanal distillers have done for ages.
The resulting spirit is blended with a hint of citrus and just enough cane sugar to enhance the natural flavor of the blossoms. The result, after painstaking refinements to every subtlety of the recipe, is a clean floral nose with hints of pear, peach and grapefruit zest. Most importantly, one will note the wonderfully fresh flavor of the elderflowers, available for the first time in a finely balanced artisanal liqueur.

Bushmills 1608 Anniversary – It has been 400 years since the Bushmills area was granted a license to distil. In honor of this anniversary, Bushmills has released a special 1608 Anniversary Edition. Central to the blend is Bushmills malt distilled with crystal malt – a special malted barley that takes on a crystallized appearance when roasted. This malt enhances the natural sweetness and adds smoothness to the character of the whiskey. Having tasted it the other day, we cab attest to both these characteristics. Syrupy and rich, this whiskey does have a toffee-like quality but maintains a silky crispness that keeps it balanced.
Lucid Absinthe– Absinthe, first commercialized in the early 1800's, emerged as a powerful icon of freedom during the Belle Époque period, and it was during this time that the highly perfumed spirit reached unparalleled popularity and cult status among the worlds of art, literature, and fashion. Once proclaimed to fuel the fires of creativity, and subsequently demonized, Absinthe has recently reemerged on the world stage as a high quality, fine alcoholic libation recalling those earlier artistic times.
lucid is formulated by world renowned absinthe expert T.A. Breaux, and is distilled in strict accordance to traditional French methods. lucid is crafted in the historic Combier distillery, founded in 1834 and designed by Gustave Eiffel in the fabled Loire Valley of France. Each bottle of lucid is carefully prepared by skilled craftsmen, using ancient copper absinthe alembics. Unlike most contemporary imitators, lucid is distilled entirely from spirits and European herbs, and uses no artificial additives, oils, or dyes. lucid recalls the rich tradition of Absinthe, and is crafted using a full measure of Grande Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), Green Anise, Sweet Fennel, and other fine European herbs traditionally used in making fine Belle Époque absinthe.
